It’s October. Halloween is coming. 'Tis the season to be scared and what better way than with a night inside your Camden apartment home binge-watching this season’s new shows for October. With over 200 shows coming out on Netflix and Hulu just this month, we’ve narrowed down our list to our favorite four with a couple of oldie-but-goodie’s sprinkled in.
**1. Gotham – FOX/Netflix – (October 1):** Gotham fans unite! If you love the show like I do, you should shed a tear as this is the final season. This solid Fox drama follows young Bruce Wayne as he ages and takes down the scoundrels that rise in Gotham City. It’s the perfect mix of comic book elements which make the series one you can’t miss.
**2. Into the Dark – Hulu – (October 5):** 12 episodes, a new installment each month AND the stories are themed for a respective holiday? Yes please. Into the Dark is also kicking off with “The Body” – a special about a hitman who appears to be dressed in a wickedly good costume as he’s tasked with transporting one of his victims on Halloween night.

**3. The Haunting of Hill House – Netflix – (October 12):** Focusing on five siblings who grew up in the most famous house in America, these (now) adults are reunited by their youngest sister’s suicide. The sibling reunion “forces them to finally confront the ghosts of their own pasts”. Ghosts, goblins and things that go bump in the night will prevail.
**4. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina – Netflix – (October 26):** Ready to ruin your fond childhood memories? “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” takes the fond childhood show and twists it into a horror show like “The Exorcist” – a direct quote from press notes. This is an admittedly dark show that’s in line with some of the scariest movies around.

**5. Castle Rock – Hulu – (July 25):** Castle Rock draws inspiration from various works of Stephen King resulting in a spooky brew of the author’s stories. Loaded with red herrings King fans will love, the show focuses on a defense attorney who returns after guards at Shawshank Penitentiary find a man locked in an abandoned cell block. Even if you’re not a King fan, the show tells a creepy story that is sure to hold its own weight.
**6. Twin Peaks – Netflix/Hulu – (May 21):** In the quiet titular town of Twin Peaks, the sudden and tragic murder of high-school student Laura Palmer set off a chain of events that turns the town on its head. With only two brief seasons, this is the first new episode after 25 years! There’s not better time than now to revisit this classic.
Now that you have some frights to feast on, try these Oven Nachos or this savory Shrimp Chowder to keep you warm during this chilling evening.
