The first thing I do when looking to move to a new area is figure out where the best location is to hike. Hiking has proven to be one of the best stress relievers in my life and provides me the time to spend with my two dogs. Thankfully, when looking into our Raleigh Camden communities I have found a plethora of trails near each one! Trails in North Carolina are easy to find, you almost can’t get through a city without wanting to stop and explore one. Although there’s hundreds, I’ll highlight my favorites near each Camden community to help guide you to your new home.

Camden Reunion Park is .5 miles from a hidden gem. The Holly Springs Greenway begins right in their back yard! The Greenway is a 3.7-mile trail that’s good for all skill levels. It’s an easy meet up spot for people living in Apex, Holly Springs, or Fuquay-Varina, so enjoy it with close by family or friends!
Camden Lake Pine has 3 access points directly down to the Lake Pine Loop. The Lake Pine loop is comprised of three trails, two are paved and one is natural. All trails are classified as easy, with the paved trails being perfect for biking. The trails surround the Apex Community Lake and provides lots of wildlife to see. The park also offers picnic areas, grills, fishing docks, and a multitude of playing fields. You could easily fill up a lazy Sunday afternoon enjoying all it has to offer!
Camden Governors Village is 10 minutes away from the beautiful Jordan Lake State Recreation Area. Jordan Lake offers 8 full trails, ranging from easy to difficult with a variety of distances. My personal favorite is the New Hope Trail. That trail has two loops you can choose from, with the longest being 5.4 miles. It’s a moderate difficult level but it’s the best for tiring out my two pups. Jordan Lake also offers camping, boating, and fishing. With 14,000 acres of reservoir to explore, it’s never a dull day!
Camden Westwood is only 8 minutes away from the beautiful Lake Crabtree. Lake Crabtree also offers several trails ranging in difficulty levels, the longest trail being a 10.2-mile loop around the actual lake. The wildflowers throughout the area give you the perfect sense of peace while you enjoy the trails with your pup.
Camden Asbury Village, Camden Manor Park, Camden Overlook, and Camden Carolinian are all super close to the House Creek Greenway Trail. This trail is a 6.7-mile hike that’s rated at a moderate difficultly level. The wildflowers and peaceful rivers give you a sense of nature while you’re still close to Downtown Raleigh. This trail actually connects with the North Carolina Museum of Art! Nature and outdoor art, perfect way to spend your day!
Camden Crest is our final Raleigh community and is only 2 miles away from the great William B. Umstead State Park. The park offers a multitude of trails, with my favorite being the Oak Rock Trail. The trail is only .6 miles long making it the perfect quick breath of fresh air you need. Enjoy it right after work to wind down after your workday. The park also offers tons of activities throughout the year for families to enjoy.
