Here’s the 10th Edition of the Simply Camden blog series celebrating 13 inspirational Camden women. We were recently named #13 on Fortunes List for Best Workplaces for Women, and in this feature, we get to know, Rosie Posey from Corpus Christi, Texas.
The beginning of her Camden Journey
My journey with Camden began in 1993 as an Assistant Manager at Camden Potters Mill now known as Camden Copper Ridge. I was 23 years old but had been working in my family’s landscape nursery business since I could work and HEB grocery stores for a few years while going to school but I feel like my job with Camden was my first “real” job. Camden bought our community along with another large community back in 1993. I started my career with Laura Rios, who at the time was my Community Manager and Laura Little, our District Manager. Soon after Camden decided to build what would be Camden Breakers after over ten plus years of no multi-family development in our market. The lease up was a huge success, and soon after I was promoted to Community Manager.

The evolution of Rosie as a Camdenite
Over the years, I have had a lot of incredible opportunities during my journey with Camden. I have had the privilege in helping develop several of our Camden team members in my role and as a mentor, assist with acquisitions, dispositions, due diligence, mergers, help support our only student housing community, Camden Miramar and see what it’s has involved into after 20 plus years. My favorite part of my journey is the learning that has taken place, seeing the industry with the use of technology change how we manage the day to day but more so the connections and friendships made with peers, support staff, residents and vendors alike.
Balancing work and family…like a CHAMP!
Having a large family can be a struggle and when I faced personal challenges, I always had the support of my Family and my Camden Family. There’s always someone to lean on for guidance or support no matter how big or small.
I had support from my family and work family throughout the adventure of having triplets and a son with a 19 month age difference. My Corpus and the corporate Camden family were there for me from start to finish. I received so much support during the month and half stay in Houston for the birth of my children at the Women’s Hospital. This was a very difficult time as I had no biological family living there and my husband was working and caring for my 18 month old son in Corpus. I had several corporate family members come to the hospital to visit me to ensure I had everything I needed, and they would bring the thoughts and prayers from other corporate members. Once my children arrived, due to their premature birth I was allowed to stay at Camden Vanderbilt to be near my little ones. The Camden family love was beyond words; so many people touched our lives, from every level.

This made my return to work a no brainer, knowing that Camden was truly a family company and not just about the work.
My amazing family
I have been married for 19 years and my husband David has been part of my Camden journey. He is amazed at what a wonderful company I work for. We have four healthy, beautiful and loving children. Dylan my son is usually overwhelmed by his three sisters, Breann, Caitlin and Emily. Every day is a new adventure, but I feel so blessed.

My favorite part about working for Camden
I’ve met so many incredible people throughout my 23 years and I love helping people and proving the best place they can call home. I had a resident who lived at Camden Copper Ridge for many years and moved to Breakers in 2006. I was excited because he had such a great experience with Camden Copper Ridge and feels as close to us as we do to him. When you are able to help residents experience how great Camden is they will love it just as much as we do!

What drives her to keep going everyday
My family, work family and knowing that we are lucky to work for not only a Fortune 100 Company, but to work for owners who care about their employees is what keeps me going every day. I feel like each year has a special meaning for me and that Camden has somehow made it a celebration for me.

Why I love my career path
Truly, the people and all that Camden has done for my family throughout my 23 year. I feel so lucky. I enjoy seeing my team grow! My recent AM, Desirae Gwynn, has moved to Houston to become the AM at Camden Yorktown. Now my previous Leasing Consultant, Liana Guzman, has been promoted to AM at Breakers. Seeing my team blossom into brilliant young professionals who make a name for themselves and start their own families is such a reward. It proves the Camden values we follow have great positive impacts on our professional and personal lives in tremendous ways.
Thank you!
